Are We Blinded to the World?
Harry Shearer blogs on the Huffington Post about U.S. television news departments closing foreign bureaus and stopping the assignment of reporters to the State Department. 

When we lived in Seattle we got a Canadian station and watched Canadian news every evening, simply because we could find out what was going on in the world.  We also watched (and still watch) the BBC news.  Our news coverage is appalling.  One-half hour consisting of 15 minutes of politics, 5 minutes of "feel-good" stories and 10 minutes of commercials. 

And journalists wonder why we turn to the internet for our information...
