Blog-Cleaning (Or Keeping Your Husband Happy)

Blogging doesn't get you out of housework.  Well, it may get you out of housework, but it didn't fly with my husband.  He has an appointment this morning and as he left he informed me that we would be cleaning the house when he returned.  Since he seemed a little grumpy, I decided to do it while he was gone.  However, I found that if I put the laptop on a bookcase I can blog as I pass back and forth.

Our 90+ year old cottage has wood floors.  I was ecstatic until I realized that this mean sweeping or dusting those floors several times a week.  Now I want carpet.  At least carpet hides that yucky dirt.  I agitated for a Roomba, but dear husband doesn't think they really work, even when I pointed out that Engadget review them and liked them.  Sadly, he doesn't hold Engadget with the same awe I do. Frankly, cleaning the house doesn't bother me, it's laundry that really irks me.  I'd much rather scrub toilets than do laundry.  So I won't be sending L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa my toilet brush.  Toilets take three minutes, laundry lasts forever.

Music is very important in cleaning house.  I listen to the Gipsy Kings while I sweep and mop.

I have my very own red couch with two matching red chairs.  A hint to the wise:  do not get leather furniture if you have cats.  Expecially un-declawed cats. (By the way, that photo looks just like my cat Java, except she is suspicious of any food not found in her bowl).

Wow - blog-cleaning really works.  The house looks great!
