Guy Kawasaki's Nine Steps
Guy Kawasaki give his advice for writing an executive summary (you know, that blurb in your business plan that convinced the VCs that you are the next hot thing).  He says to include:
  • The Grab
  • The Problem
  • The Solution
  • The Opportunity
  • Your Competitive Advantage
  • The Model
  • The Team
  • The Promise
  • The Ask
This same formula can be used in many different forms - distill it down to 100 words for networking, use it as an outline for your client proposals, and memorize it if you are in any kind of sales, even retail.

Politicians even follow this outline - some better than others and if they leave out a step, that's the point where questions need to be asked.
