Blogging Means Providing Yourself as a Product

Seth Godin posts a case study about a mover whose product (local, friendly, accountable movers) is his marketing. I recently experienced something similar in my own business.

I started out five years ago as an inexpensive Virtual Assistant who did anything for people anywhere. Hard to explain, hard to market, and low sales.

Three years ago I raised my rates, eliminated some services and saw an upswing in sales.

Six weeks ago I completed a total redesign of the business, changing it to focus on what I do best: explain technology to people and show them how to make it work for their business. I started selling myself instead of a service. I raised my rates (substantially) and have seen my business explode - last month's revenue increased 30%, this month by 90%.

Isn't that what the top bloggers do as well? They provide their own knowledge, their own experience - essentially their service is their own personality.
