How is this for a kick in the head? The first person to appear on TV, Elma G. "Pem" Farnsworth, wife of Philo T. Farnsworth, the inventor of electronic television, died in Bountiful, Utah at the age of 98.

Watch out - here comes a nostalgia cloud: You know, kiddies, we didn't have a microwave until I was a senior in High School (well, stores sold them, but my parents didn't buy them). I remember cell phones so big and heavy that you could crack nuts with them. Oh, and a world without a way to record your favorite shows, but since there were only a handful of channels anyway it didn't really matter. There were only four kinds of pasta back then - spaghetti, lasagna, ravioli and macaroni. And the hardest to believe - gas was under a dollar. Yup, a magical time, kiddies.
