"The personal is political" was a feminist slogan and now is being used to justify "writing about oneself and then turning these observations about one's narrow social circle into a party platform or a tax policy ."
As commenter jeff_d says:
The danger, I think, is in carrying this so far that one's political perspective is narrowed by a fixation on one's personal experiences. In every election cycle, it seems we hear about women's issues, gay issues, or whatever. This reinforces a balkanized approach to political participation that I don't think is healthy. Is this being enhanced by blogging as well as main stream media (MSM)? When anyone can influence issues by blogging about it, telling their own story, isn't there a danger of creating a political system of the one instead of the many?
