Political Blogs Doing Music Reviews - Yes/No/Indifferent?

Interesting comment thread on Crooks and Liars about his occasional coverage of music on what is essentially a political blog. Some don't like the intrusion of music: " please no more music. Stick to crooks and liars unless they're crooked and lying musicians." Others enjoy it: "I, for one, appreciate the music as well as the comments from the less whiny posters who can offer background or other music for me to check out."

While the majority of A-List blogs are "generalists", covering a wide range of topics within their blogs, the political bloggers usually stay on track. Is this a good thing? Depends.

I'd shudder to find out what music Michelle Malkin listens to (Souza marches interspersed with Halloween sound effects), but overall political bloggers including posts about music isn't that jarring for me. Since blogs reflect the personality of the blogger why not go off topic occasionally and talk about the music you enjoy?

It's your blog, why can't you write what you want to? Personally, I think it adds a bit of flavor to the blog and gives your readers a hint to the real you :)
