Ask.com's New Blog Search: Yes and No

I'm cruising through my feeds and I note that Steve Rubel is less than enthusiastic about Ask.com's new blog search. According to Steve, the site uses "subscription data from Bloglines users to rank posts by popularity" but doesn't do it as well as Technorati. He points out that a search for iPod returns Apple's product site instead of a blog.

"Bloglines still feels like a largely stagnant, but important player an industry that's moving too quickly for them. All of their competitors - from Google to Newsgator to Technorati and Rojo - are doing more to innovate in the search/RSS arena... File this under too little, too late."

Then, just a few minutes later I see Performancing.com's review of Ask.com: "ASK's New Blog Search ROCKS". However, in reading the article, it doesn't look like Nick or Chris spent much time working with it before posting.

So is Ask.com' blog search disappointing or does it rock? What do you think?
