In the past, Robert had publically agreed to stop letting Patrick access his account, while privately most probably letting him access the sight incognito. Unfortunately, in a moment of bad judgement he and Patrick did a presentation at Gnomedex. This very public display of breaking Second Life's rules resulted in a live scolding, displayed for attendees to see, and a threat to shut down Robert's account.
I see two problems here. First, Second Life is overruling a parent's decision on what his child can do. On the other hand, Second Life needs to protect itself from bad parents who haven't a clue as to what their kids get up to online.
Sigh - I personally think parents should have the final say, but until the courts start showing parents that a little self-responsibility is required in raising a child, that won't happen in this country.
