Then I found out that guests pay to be on their show. A fair amount of money. That is not mentioned during the show anywhere and the ladies make quite the deal out of their guests and how good they are. I'd always assumed they had invited the guests on the show because they liked their book, product or service.
Quite frankly, the lack of disclosure soured me not only on the radio show itself, but also on all of the products and services they talked about so enthusiastically.
I'm mentioning this because I gave a presentation on blogging yesterday before a group of people who don't blog or read blogs. One of things we talked about was disclosure. I pointed out that a blog is pretty much open for anyone to see and to fact check. If you deliberately hide a relationship you have with something or someone you talk about, it will eventually get out and could seriously damage your blogging reputation.
It happens infrequently to A-Listers, because most of them are very aware of how blogging works and how easy it is to damage your authority. I expect, however, as more business people begin blogging, they will need reminding of the unwritten rules of blogging.
