Is Apple the New Dell?

I've had my own Apple problems in the past working at a company that used only Apple products. When told by customer service that it is common for every fifth iMac to be 'bad' I was appalled (we bought 15 over two years and four were bad - wouldn't even start up). When 'authorized service' failed to diagnose a bad network card until I stood in front of them and plugged it into their network to show it didn't work, I was frustrated. But David Ciccone's story is the worst I've seen - not quite Dell worse - at least he found several helpful Apple employees.

I like the concept of Apple, but find the execution faulty, mostly due to lack of software and widespread support. But now, if their customer service is going down the tubes as well...
