Will Chris Be a Hurricane?

Living in the inland Pacific Northwest, hurricane watching feels a little ghoulish - like sitting at the turns in Nascar to watch the crashes.  This is supposed to be a nasty year (another nasty year) for hurricanes, but we haven't seen one yet.  Tropical Storm Chris is strengthening, however, and looks to become the first hurricane of the Atlantic season.

And wouldn't you know it, as Reuters reports, Chris is headed for the same oil and natural gas rigs hit last year.

When we bought our sailboat, I became very interested in weather.  You tend to when your life depends on it.  We don't have the boat anymore, but I'm still a weather afficianado.  Last year my favorite site for hurricane-readiness was the National Hurricane Center.  The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is also a good place to watch.  You can find out everything you want to know about hurricanes here.
