AListReview's Top Ten Political Blogs
From psychotic rants to well-reasoned thinking, here is my own personal run-down of the top ten political A-List bloggers and why I read them:

1.  Andrew Sullivan
Andrew has written for The New Republic, the New York Times magazine and his blog appears on the Time.com website.  I like Andrew because he has a lot of common sense.

2.  The Volokh Conspiracy
This group blog has posts that are well-reasoned and persuasive.  Eugene Volokh, the blog's founder, is a professor of law, so the blog leans heavily into constitutional law issues.

3.  The Huffington Post
Founded by Arianna Huffington, the HP features posts written by celebrities, mainstream media writers and experts.  The posts are eclectic, and often you will see two or three posts about the same issue, from different points of view.  The one downside - Alec Baldwin posts here occasionally.  Don't read his posts directly after a meal.

4. Captain's Quarters
Captain Ed is a little conservative for my tastes - but it makes for good discussions.  He also has some common sense that shows brilliantly on occasion.  He has a working knowledge of reality and isn't afraid to admit when his own side is wrong.  Unlike...

5. Little Green Footballs
150px-The_shining_heres_johnny.jpgI find LGF reprehensible about 80% of the time.  But I read it - mostly because I can't believe people can actually defy logic to such a degree.  The reason he makes my list is because I admire his persistance in uncovering such things as the Dan Rather story and the faked photos in the Israeli war.  You need a strong stomache to take him, however.  He spews hatred and vitriol in every sentence.

6. Michele Malkin
A step above Little Green Footballs, Michele Malkin makes my list because her little Malkinbot fans are so much fun to rile up and they love to leave nasty comments and send nasty emails.  Whenever I'm bored I post about Michele and watch the sparks fly.

7. Dvorak Uncensored
Not strictly a political blogger, John Dvorak covers a wide range of topics, all of which are interesting.  He has a group of bloggers who post, but I like John's dry wit.

8. Escaton
I check out Escaton daily - but I have a huge pet peeve, the titles.  The post titles give you no clue as to what the post is about.  While I like what I read, it is interesting and well-written, I don't often actually read the posts because the titles don't catch my attention.

9. James Wolcott
Vanity Fair contributing editor, James Wolcott, is great, although he's been a little erratic in his posting.  I like his humor and he always seems to ferret out the best quotes.

10.  Daily Kos
I have a confession for you - I don't like Daily Kos.  I find Markos himself whiny and the blog posts or 'journals' tend to swarm around similar topics.  Daily Kos is more like an exclusive club, or cult, than a blog.  That said, I do read it, because everyone else reads it.  I just don't spend any time on it.
So there you have it - my own personal top ten political blogs and why I read them.  Some of the reasons aren't the best - and I'm sure you'll tell me that.  Oh, and Malkinbots - feel free to anonomize your email addresses - I just laugh and hit delete anyway.
