George Allen - Textbook Example of How Not to Campaign
George Allen presents an example of how politicians need to take the internet and bloggers seriously.  For good or for bad, every word that comes out of a politician's mouth can be disseminated within minutes, analyzed and checked for accuracy within an hour.  It isn't just a few like-minded individuals attending your rallys, coffee klatches and stump speeches - it is the whole world.

  1. Don't call people names.  What comes out of your mouth when you call people names is usually an indicator of your true feelings.
  2. Yes, it was inappropriate of the Fox reporter to ask about the religion of your grandfather.  It was also inappropriate to act as if it were an attack and accuse the reporter of casting aspersions - even if they were trying to.  You revealed your own prejudice, instead of shrugging it off with a, "Why yes, that is true, but I don't know much about it because I was raised a Christian."
  3. Unless you want to run on a platform of racism, don't pose with members of white supremecist groups (make sure you read the letter from Gordon Baum's co-host).

It wasn't a "fox" reporter, it was a reported named "fox" (Peggy Fox for WUSA-TV).

D'Oh - thanks for the correction. You see Fox and instantly assume it is the network.

George, you say "Jewish" like it's a BAD thing!

Sen. George Allen of Virginia, being a good Right-Wing Christian and all, was no doubt praying to God for a way out of the mess his Macaque remark put him into.

And God or Providence responded with a golden political opportunity, one that, had he been capable of recognising it, might have saved his political career and perhaps even his Presidential ambitions.

He just forgot one thing. She has a helluva sense of humor!
