New Jersey Faces Pumpkin Famine
Gothamist reports that the New Jersey pumpkin crop suffers from a soil fungi as a result of a hot summer with rains in June and August.  50-90% of the crop may be lost this year. 

On the face of it, this is funny, but not for the farmers.  I know around here, farmers use pumpkins as a fall income boost and a way to get consumers to their farm or to the fruit stands where they buy other goods. 

On the other hand, it is a great reason for me to show this photo I took last year:
