I agree that we are taking on the responsibility of doing many things ourselves these days that we used to leave to other people. Even something as simple as making a deposit is done through an ATM instead of face-to-face with a teller. Except for deposits, I never even go the bank anymore - doing all of my fund transfers online and using electronic payment options.
What I see small business owners doing is getting more for their money. By doing this work in-house, they can reserve the money spent on accountants and other professionals for projects that take a business to the next level.
However, at some point small business owners need to let go - they simply cannot do it all themselves and cannot grow their business if they try. So, is the point at which a small business owner starts hiring professionals for work he used to do himself, the point where he or she stops being a small business owner?
