Too true, Anon. What if this poem had been from a Christian student's point of view, expressing doubt and fear of Muslim terror? Or of fear of everyday people who have learned it's okay to taunt and ridicule their beliefs? Or any other number of things I could cite...
"I wonder why people taunt my beliefs.
I wonder if I speak of Jesus,
If I will be the next gunned down."
or
"My mom lost her job today.
Her boss hired someone
who lives here against the law,
because he would work for less money.
How will my family eat?"
I highly doubt it would have been printed, and if it would have, this blog would be denouncing the poem and the school system. It's hypocracy, as usual.
Malkin adds:
Reader Nancy sniffs this one out!
The teacher really should know the subject matter a little better. This is a direct plagiarization of a poem, written in the 60s, by Chicano activist, Corky Gonzalez. It is entitled, "I am Joaquin." It's been around for a long time.
Not an exact plagiarization, but definitely served as inspiration, it seems.
Bwahahahahahahah

Oh come now... Students should not question George Bush? That poem isn't questioning-- it's blatantly attacking, calling our President bloodthirsty, pulling the race card, etc. Our schools should NOT be teaching only one side of an issue. Why not print a poem that applauds America, as well as the one that attacks it? Noooo, we can't do that. Better to make our students into liberal robots. (You accuse Malkin of not wanting students to question- but you seem to wholeheartedly applaud spoon-feeding them liberal "values" in the form of this poem, masquerading as "education.") Give it up. Malkin has a valid point, whether you like it or not.
