Are they in civil war yet?  The mass kidnapping in Iraq is yet another symptom of the disintegration of law and order in Iraq... if something that barely existed can be said to disintegrate.

Iraq SecurityAndrew Sullivan links to this post: "When we try to decide whether or not we’ve been victorious, we have to think, for just a second, what the term “victory” means. Victory means the accomplishment of objectives and goals that we had in mind when we initially became involved in a particular conflict. "  Tell me again - what were the objectives?

Crooks and Liars on Jack Murtha as House Majority Leader:  "I know that he's from a very conservative district when it comes to social values, but I was able to talk to him for a few minutes Tuesday and he made it clear that his focus is on Iraq and he'll leave the rest up to Nancy Pelosi."  This is truly great - a squeaky wheel right in a position of power.

Meanwhile, Aziz Huq at the Huffington Post:  "While Iraq is of unquestionable importance, there's also a pressing need for oversight on domestic security issues: How are our intelligence agencies and military behaving closer to home? So far, too little attention has been paid to this question." C'mon Aziz - don't take their waterboards away from them!  They'll play nice, they promise.

Little Green Footballs comments on Washington Post's editorial about Murtha: "They know that Murtha’s moonbat insanity and ABSCAM links are going to cause a major implosion and they’re running scared, with a very carefully-worded editorial."

Let's face it - six months from now we are still going to be in an Iraq that lacks the basics of life.
