My husband and I usually sit down during the year-end holidays and do some strategic planning, but this is the first time I've done it on my own - looked at just what I want for the next year. I'm both excited and a little nervous, so I've been doing some research.
BeExcellent, which is on my "Not Quite AList But Should Be" outlines some questions an organization can ask to make sure the strategic planning process is on track:
Does our process produce a plan that's "real?" - Is our plan "strategic?"
- Do we have adequate external focus?
- Do we make sufficient use of outsiders?
- Does our plan really work for the organization?
- Is our plan actionable?
- Is anybody doing anything?
- Are we getting lost in executing tactics, but missing the big picture?
