Are Carmex and other chapped-lip solutions addictive? Strangely enough, I've just been wondering that myself. Here in Yakima is have been below freezing for the past several weeks, with a wicked inversion leading to pollution. The result, really dry, nasty air that wicks the moisture out of everything, including the lips.
I've always noticed that within 2 hours of using any lip balm, the top layer of lip comes off. Of course, since this is the chapped, dead stuff, that is to be expected. However, it seems like the longer I user lip balm, the more I have to use it. Just like nasal decongestant inhalers.
So, what's true? Is it addictive? Is the salicylic acid eating away my lips? Does Consumerist have the best solution or should I just resort to Bag Balm?
Disclosure: I was raised on Bag Balm as the cure for everything to do with skin.
