
I usually love to disagree with Jeff Jarvis regarding predictions of the imminent demise of print journalism. Today, however, he said something that adds a dimension to his argument: "I think there is danger in continuing to separate journalism by medium — and to promote one medium separately."
Some people prefer to read newspapers - I do. I can spread it out while I eat my corn crunchies for breakfast. Do I get all my news that way? Absolutely not - I also watch the evening news (a waste of time, I know), occasionally the BBC news (there are other countries in the world?), and during the day I read the news online.
What I dislike is when newspapers have different content on their website than in their papers. Additional information is fine, because a website is the perfect place to have information that cannot physically fit within a print format. However, excluding articles that are in the paper, solely to sell that paper, is wrong-headed.
