I woke on the wrong side of the bed this morning and am as grumpy as all heck. Just the attitude needed for Monday morning!
I'm not the only grumpy entity - Apple may be sending cease and desist emails to bloggers who link to material Apple doesn't like. I'm thinking this is nonsense, but it won't be the first time Apple has surprised me with their obtuseness.
Businesspundit says: "Digg is becoming the poster-boy for everything that is wrong with the wisdom of crowds." From Wikipedia: "Emotional factors, such as a feeling of belonging, can lead to peer pressure, herd instinct, and in extreme cases collective hysteria." I'm no longer a fan of Digg, for all the obvious reasons, but c'mon people: It's just a website.
Chris Anderson suggests some books to read - I've added them to the loooong list of books I want to get, unfortunately my budget and my desires don't always match up. Especially interesting:
- The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable
- Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything
Just because I don't trust the wisdom of crowds, doesn't mean I don't want to understand (profit from) it.
